Home education & your rights

Montessori on the Farm is a learning service that supports families who home-educate. It is not a registered school and not a licensed early-childhood service.

Your child’s education remains legally yours. Families hold their own Certificate of Exemption from the Ministry of Education and stay fully responsible for their child’s learning. There is no set curriculum imposed on home-educated children in New Zealand, and joining us does not change your exemption, your obligations, or your freedom to educate as you choose. We simply provide a rich Montessori learning day as part of your wider home-education programme.

If you don’t yet hold a Certificate of Exemption, we’re happy to point you to the Ministry of Education’s guidance and to local home-education networks who can help.

A safe place to learn

Your children’s wellbeing comes first. Our guide holds a current teaching qualification, a Police vet and safety check, and a first-aid certificate. We keep small groups, maintain a rural-site hazard and health-and-safety plan, a clear evacuation procedure, and a fenced learning area kept apart from farm hazards. Children access facilities by a supervised route through a self-contained, lockable entrance. Full health and safety and child-protection policies are provided on enrolment.

Privacy

When you register your interest or enrol, we collect only what we need to talk with you and care for your child, such as your name, contact details, and your child’s age and relevant needs.
